The material

A practical alternative
to outdoor wood.

Plastic lumber is made from recycled plastic and formed into boards. Like traditional lumber, the boards can be cut and assembled into a range of outdoor products.

The difference is in the upkeep. There is no wood in the boards, so they do not need the recurring staining or sealing that outdoor wood requires.

Applications

From garden beds
to public spaces.

Benches, planters and fencing are where we begin. We are also exploring larger applications with project-specific engineering.

Why recycled plastic lumber

Less maintenance.
Long-term value.

Reuse plastic waste

Recycled plastic is turned into useful boards for outdoor products.

Reduce routine upkeep

No wood staining or sealing. Regular cleaning and appropriate care are still needed.

Look at the lifetime cost

Compare the purchase price alongside ongoing maintenance, rather than the upfront price alone.

About Ecoture

Engineering meets
practical business.

Ecoture is a Halifax-based venture founded by Omair Shahzad and Ayaan Adeel.

We bring engineering and accounting backgrounds to a common goal: outdoor products that make practical use of recycled plastic and make financial sense for the people buying them.

Before you get in touch

Questions, answered.

What is recycled plastic lumber?

It is a plank-like material made from recycled plastic, rather than wood. The boards can be used to fabricate outdoor furniture and other suitable applications.

Who is Ecoture for?

We welcome conversations with municipalities, universities, community organisations, landscape professionals, businesses and homeowners planning outdoor spaces.

Can we discuss a custom project?

Tell us about your site, intended use, dimensions and timeline. We can discuss feasibility and next steps. Specifications and availability are confirmed for each project.

Does it need maintenance?

It avoids wood-specific staining and sealing, but it still needs routine cleaning and appropriate care. Performance depends on the material, design, installation and conditions.
